At Lisbon Montessori School each of us calls herself a Montessorian. Our Montessorians welcome children by building individual relationships with each child based on love and trust. Throughout this process we carry the awareness that each child will take a part of this relationship and incorporate it into his or her personality. This makes us, the prepared adults, the most important part of the child’s environment.
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that children have a unique ability to absorb their environment. Therefore we at Lisbon Montessori School offer the children a carefully prepared environment, which will nurture their development and inspire to make choices. “Children become like the things they love. The environment hosts a multitude of materials divided into five areas of knowledge. The materials range from less to more advanced and are presented to children in individual presentations based on the child’s level, and not on their age.
